Pat Candaras is a writer/comedian. She recently returned from doing her one-woman show at the 2006 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The show had it’s debut at the 2001 Edinburgh Festival and went from there to China then back to New York.
Pat, who is now widowed, worked twenty-three years in corporate America, has been married twice, is the mother of three and the grandmother of two. Pat was born in Brooklyn, New York into a family that included her and her sixteen siblings. In her fifties with her children raised, Pat found herself widowed and unemployed. She decided comedy was the only place to go.

2006 Edinburgh Fringe Festival
**** BROADWAY BABY “………….solid-gold material in her observations of the more extreme reactions of homeland security. …………(she) underlines the absurdity of a society suddenly suspicious of everything. …………..she’d much rather be doing something as mundane like cook a chicken.” P.S., BROADWAY BABY
*** SCOTSMAN “The only thing really wrong with this show is the title. Pat Candaras is by no stretch of anyone’s imagination a Grandmotherf***ER. She is an intelligent performer with a thoughtfully scripted show. You know you are in the hands of a pro at a Pat Candaras gig. And the show is relaxed, even though it is largely about anxiety.”
“Candaras’s delivery is beautifully measured, and leisurely paced, which gives you time to admire the craft in the set. And she is a funny lady.”
“This year she is worried about “the authorities”. Actually, Candaras is worried about almost everything. She is worried about anthrax bombs, suspicious-looking people and small dogs with big ears in a high wind. ……she seems to have rather an irregular obsession with cooking chicken.” Kate Copstick, THE SCOTSMAN
