Experts say that laughter is the best medicine. The Capital Region’s comedians certainly hope so for the sake of their fellow comic, national headliner Mike Irwin. Mike has been diagnosed with stage four bone cancer of his lower jaw, neck, and lymph nodes. He is undergoing chemotherapy at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam, NY.
Immediately upon hearing of Mike’s diagnosis, the Capital Region comedy community began planning shows to help raise money to offset Mike’s medical and living expenses now encountered by Mike’s wife Esther and their four children. Esther is working two jobs just to help make ends meet.
