Ray Garvey
Ray Garvey’s got quite the list of acting credentials, for everything from 1995’s “Mighty Aphrodite” and 1997’s “Deconstructing Harry” to all the “Law & Order” series and “The Sopranos”. The list is actually pretty long, but what Ray might be most famous for is not only his highly regarded stand-up comedy, but also as the creator and curator of the Borgata Comedy Club in Atlantic City, NJ.
Delving into his prolific bag of life encounters, Garvey, who also owns a comedy club called Ray’s Lounge in New York City, likens good stand-up to both the amorous and pugnacious sides of life.
“It can be a little like sex — there’s a little foreplay then boom-boom, bam,” he says. “It’s a little like boxing — the opening guys give you that jab, jab, jab, then the closer comes out and bam, hits you with a Joe Frazier left hook and the show’s over.”
