George Gallo

georgegallo.jpgGeorge Gallo is a street / stand-up comedian from New York who is a presence in
New York City’s comedy, radio, television and independent production scene. To have fun and make fun is the fuel for his original campaign of insanity.

Ordinary and bizarre every day characters inspire and motivate Gallo and his sense of humor. Gallo’s stand-up is an intermix of characterizations and experiences that leave audiences feeling that they just saw something that was never done before - and it probably wasn’t. On stage, his show is improvised and threaded with existing material that is always new, exciting and sometimes just plane weird. Inspirations are old TV shows from anytime in history but now and of course Bugs Bunny cartoons.

George began stand-up after making flicks with friends and was coerced into performing in comedy clubs . A natural style occurred and soon the television spots followed - Caroline’s Comedy Hour, Short Attention Span Theatre and Evening at the Improv and several others.

georgegallo2.jpgThe streets and the BMX world are where George’s brand of comedy found its first forum. Summers at Woodward camp and touring bike shows showcased the idiocies. Producing audio tapes in his friend Matt Midland’s basement was a way to express the wired energy in his mind. Years ahead of the delayed radio industry, the recordings were unique, caustic at times and ridiculous yet engaging. Strictly comedy and invention applied were the “Insanity Tapes”.

Shooting videos in the late 1980’s and documenting gags was always fun and still is. Now, George’s ability to be “invisible”, unsuspecting, and non-threatening make his flicks even more feasible and successful.

"I want you to know how grateful all of us are that you came and joined us for our "Comedy Relief For The Homeless" Show in Troy, several weeks ago. You were tremendous and it was really great to meet you and I can only hope that you enjoyed yourself while you were here. Many of the folks have been talking about you including our shelter receptionist Yolanda who thought you were absolutely hilarious! You were great and it was fun to have you with us!
