Innocent yet devilish, naive yet ironic, shy yet forthright - Erick James is a study in contrasts. Funny contrasts. And that’s what makes him engaging, entertaining, and hilarious. A comedian, actor, and magician, this former college hockey player and engineer approaches comedy from both an analytical and childlike point of view. Erickʼs amusement over life, people, and himself makes others happy when he takes the stage. He sees the human condition for what it is – ironic juxtaposition – and delivers jokes that are simultaneously innocent and mischievous.
Erick received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute followed by a graduate diploma in management Studies from Cambridge University (UK) and started doing stand-up after realizing he didn’t do well in captivity. Now Erick features at clubs across the northeast as well as working colleges and corporate functions. He opened for Dave Attell’s Insomniac Tour when it stopped in Albany, NY and has worked several times with the Killers of Comedy including at Caroline’s in New York City. He recently opened for Last Comic Standing finalist Michele Balan. Erick is also a co-creator and producer of Laughs
& Latte™ - a comedy series designed for and performed in coffee houses around the northeast. He is a co-creator/performer in the comedy/magic duo Departures. As an actor, Erick has played a range of roles including playing a shy geek in The List - a pilot for MTV; playing the lead antagonist in American General - an upcoming PBS dramatization on the life of Benedict Arnold; and playing a suicidal inmate for a NYS Correctional Facilities training video. He has starred in several regional and state television commercials including MVP Healthcare’s Fall enrollment campaign, and New York State OTB’s Capital Cash campaign.
