Erick James
A comedian, actor, magician, and improv artist, this former college hockey player and engineer approaches comedy from both an analytical and childlike point of view. Erick’s amusement over life, people, and himself makes others happy when he takes the stage. He sees the human condition for what it is – ironic juxtaposition – and delivers jokes that are simultaneously innocent and mischievous.
Erick has opened for national acts such as Dave Attell’s Insomniac Tour, Colin Quinn at Proctor’s Theater; and several times for Josh Blue – winner of Last Comic Standing. Erick has worked several times with the Killers of Comedy including at Caroline’s in New York City. Erick is also a co-creator and producer of Comedy By Degrees – a comedy show designed for and performed on college campuses around the Northeast. He is co-creator and performer in the comedy/magic duo known as “DEPARTURES” specializing in corporate events.
Erick is a member of the professional improv theater group The Mop & Bucket Company.
As an actor, Erick has played a range of roles including playing a shy geek in The List – a pilot for MTV; playing the lead antagonist in American General – an upcoming PBS documentary on the life of Benedict Arnold; and playing a suicidal inmate for a NYS Correctional Facilities training video. He has starred in several television commercials including MVP Healthcare’s Fall enrollment campaign, and New York State OTB’s Capital Cash campaign.
